Twelve years ago, our founder Margaux arrived in a small Portuguese fishing village with a rusted bike and no real plan. She spent three months pedaling every coastal path she could find, listening to fishermen and grandmothers share the stories behind every headland. By the time she left, Islandcycletours had a name, a handful of local guides, and a simple promise: show travelers the coast the way locals love it.
Today that promise guides every route we design. We ride slowly, stop often, and let the sea set the schedule. This is travel made of small moments, not checklists.

Every ride is led by a guide who grew up on that coastline — a surfer, marine biologist, or village historian who knows the tide like clockwork.

We cap groups at eight riders so you can hear the gulls, taste the salt figs, and actually feel the place instead of passing through it.

We offset every route, partner with local marine conservation groups, and reinvest a portion of each booking into the shorelines that host us.

Each Islandcycletours guide grew up within sight of the water they now share with you. They know which bakery opens at dawn, which cliff path the tourists never find, and exactly when the afternoon light turns the bay into gold. Many are trained cyclists, all are trained hosts, and every one carries spare tubes, local snacks, and endless patience.
