Self-guided tours

Overview

Take a vacation! Do you know how many people are owed annual leave in Australia? It's insane. Go into your boss's office and place your leave form on the table. All you need is a week. Your mental and physical well-being is worth it. Working 60-hour weeks, being constantly available to the office on your mobile or blackberry, it's essential to recharge your batteries to avoid burnout and get back some well needed balance in your life.

If you're after long, lazy days basking in the sun and partying into the night, try the Gold Coast. Perhaps you prefer endless days of shopping, a constant whirlwind of sightseeing activities or spending all your time being nice to your family on a trip home. Try Melbourne or Sydney for this.

But where is the benefit to YOU in all this? Instead, why don't you consider a holiday experience that nurtures mind, body and spirit? Its' time you finally discovered the joys of cycling in Tasmania.

Cycling actively engages your senses and connects you to all that makes Tasmania unique. Savor the moments, experience Tasmania at a slower pace, a more human pace … one kilometer, one person, one moment at a time. Don't be content to glimpse a quaint village square through the window of a rental car. Get out there and smell the salt of the ocean and the bakery's freshly baked bread. Hear the waves crashing on the beach and the shouts of the surfers trying to catch a wave. Nod and smile to the farmer tending his sheep and cattle in the fields you're passing by. And don't forget, cycling is environmentally friendly, your impact on the earth is nil. Forget the cost of petrol when you create your own pedal power as you go.

Three to four hours in the saddle will leave you feeling energized and alive - not stiff and cranky from being in the car all that time. And cycling is a great low-impact exercise. Whereas the typical tourist returns home with a few extra kilos around the waist, you'll return home from a cycling holiday leaner, fitter and more self-confident.

So what are you waiting for? Read on!
